Welcome to superbized. If you like music and/or television, you’re in the right place. If you like music ON television, you’re in the perfect place. Let me elaborate:
Superbized is a blog about this wonderful thing called Music Supervision. We all know what it is, but a lot of people just don’t know they do. Is there a song that immediately takes you back to that one scene from that one episode that made you cry? Have you ever had to rush and “Shazam” a song that was playing in the background on your favorite show? Wether it’s “Chasing Cars” making you wonder who’s going to die next on Grey’s Anatomy, or Will and Jonathan listening to “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” on Stranger Things, some of the most emotional moments on television owe a lot to music. For any this to happen, a music supervisor has to carefully find and place the music that ends up on your screen and maybe on your Spotify (or Apple Music, or Tidal if you’re that kind of person) playlists.
Mid-season (and a few season) premieres are upon us, and it’s the perfect time for this blog to kick off. Every week we’ll talk about and review the music on different shows (playlists included), we’ll give shoutouts to the shows’ music supervisors, who so often go unnoticed by the general public, we’ll talk about some of the most epic music moments on modern TV, we’ll maybe cry at some painful death scenes and hopefully we’ll make some great musical discoveries along the way.
Let’s do this.
